In times past there was no trouble getting an upper position in those highly searched, general keywords like ‘china’, ‘business’, ‘running’ and ‘headache’ for a nickel a click. When you did a search on Google for one of those terms, you would get only 1 or 2 results, indicating to you that you could bid a minimum price for your clicks.
But advertisers had a very hard time getting a generic term like “running” to stick, especially in the early days before phrase- and exact-match options were available. A person who typed in a keyword like “business” could have any of a thousand completely different ideas in mind for what he was looking for, so he was not only unlikely to click on your ad, but even if he did click on it, he was that much less likely to buy anything from you.

You can grab your client’s attention by entering into the conversation going on inside her head. Google can help you to accomplish this and get higher clicks as well, by skillful use of keywords in your ads. One of the premier rules of AdWords management is; capture the attention of more people by bidding on more keywords.
The one thing that you can do that will draw clients to you is to show them that you know just what they like. This is like joining a conversation in his head, telling him what his day was like, what it is like to be him. When you flow right into his mind and talk his talk and walk his walk, showing him you know what things are important to him. When he sees this that is when he will listen to you.

There are some tools that I just couldn’t live get by without, there just so useful in my day to day business.
Right up at the top of the list is a wicked piece of software that is primarily a keyword filtering and cleaning system, but it does sooo much more.
For example: -
You can load up a list of keywords and filter all the rude/bad words, or all the lines with over a certain number of words in, to get rid of long keyphrases
or you can can remove all spaces, or replace spaces with hyphens
You can capitalise or uncapitalise words or all the letters
you can filter one list against another, you can add two lists together and remove duplicates
You can add prefix of sufx’s to a list, so if you’ve got a list of domains without “http://” at the front and you want to add it

In my “stage ii - keyword discovery” post I talked about using Wordtracker, which has been theindustry standard tool for doing keyword research for a few years now, and it’s still pretty good, however..
There are a few new contenders for the title and a couple are better inmho.
I now use Keyword Discovery instead of WordTracker for my article sites as it does the same job, but is quicker and can produce bigger lists for me to use.
On the other hand, if you are using site generation tools to build lots of sites and you need lots of long keyword lists quickly and easily then there are two tools that you can use to great effect.
The first is another site that I run, www.topkeywordlists.com, which is a membership site that gives you 25 or 50 keyword lists researched for you each week, ready to plug in to whatever site building tools you use.
